According to the NY Times, a heat dome is a high pressure system way up in the atmosphere that helps create and encase heat, kind of like a lid on a pot that holds in steam. We’ve certainly been feeling like we’re being steamed in a pot!<\/p>

Fregata has a very good air conditioning system. When plugged in at a dock, we run it as much as needed. \u00a0To power it at anchor, we run an 8 kW generator, essentially a diesel motor that turns an alternator, producing 230V power. As the boat is still new to us, Dan likes to keep an eye on its systems and is still reluctant to run it all night while asleep. While anchored at St. Michaels, we ran it until bedtime, hoping the cool\/dry air would persist through the night. The cabin fans helped but, in the words of rapper Nelly, “it’s getting hot in herre!”<\/p>

Last year, we complained when summer temperatures in rural Qu\u00e9bec dipped into the 30s F. Well, that’s looking pretty good right now!<\/p>

The Eastern Shore<\/a> of Maryland is a mass of land across the Chesapeake Bay from the rest of Maryland. It borders Delaware to the northeast, and ends in a narrow peninsula to the south, forming the entrance from the Atlantic to the Bay from the Atlantic along with Norfolk, Virginia across the way. It’s notoriously slower paced than the “mainland” and is a popular place for tourists and retirees, all while retaining its historical feel.<\/p>

St. Michael’s is a quaint town, boasting an indoor\/outdoor maritime museum as mentioned. The main street is lined with shops and galleries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
