While we&#8217;re delighted to have so many visitors this summer, we didn&#8217;t really expect everyone we invited to accept. But they did! So in the end, we will have spent more of the season with guests onboard than not.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On one hand, it&#8217;s great. Spending time with friends in a a 54 x 15 foot space is a great way to get to know each other better. And we enjoy seeing our friends catch our enthusiasm for coastal Maine. But we weren&#8217;t able to accommodate family this season. Next summer, we look forward to just having family onboard and, mostly, spending more time as a couple.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But if I say so myself, we run a damned good floating bed &amp; breakfast \ud83d\ude00!<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are starting to feel the signs of laste summer with the temperatures dropping to 50\u00ba F (10\u00ba C) \u00a0at night and barely getting above (15\u00ba C) during the day. But it&#8217;s a beautiful time of year with crisp blue skies, red sunsets, and foliage that&#8217;s already showing signs of turning.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Monday, we sailed down to Boothbay Harbor and enjoyed two relaxing days there, before pushing on to Falmouth, a suburb of Portland. We took advantage of some downtime to explore housing opportunities in the Portland area, as we&#8217;ve been giving some thought to moving our USA-based home to the area for a variety of reasons.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today, we will move to Portland where we expect our friends Doug and Jane to join us for a few days. Unfortunately, with Hurricane Erin forecast to pass offshore of the area tomorrow, we probably won&#8217;t have good sailing conditions. The hurricane isn&#8217;t a direct threat, but it&#8217;s likely to kick up some big waves and unsettled weather. We&#8217;ll explore Portland, maybe take a road trip to Kennebunk Port, and perhaps day sail around the Casco Bay Islands if they provide enough protection.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa7b69e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
