These boats were designed to carry ice, stone, lime and lumber until replaced by steamships and railroads. The only remnants of this time is an historical sail loft.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today, lobster boats replace coasters and fill the harbor at moorings. There are also working lobster piers where the catch is offloaded, boats are fueled and traps are stored.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We left Tenants Harbor in thick fog and 50\u00ba F \u00a0(10\u00ba C), heading back to Mount Desert Island for one last visit to the Acadia National Park area. I guess summer&#8217;s coming to an end.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa7b69e e-flex
