After enjoying two weeks of perfect early-September weather, we returned to our home port in Camden for decommissioning and haul-out.
Here are some statistics from this season’s cruise:
- 88 days at sea
- 54 nights on mooring balls
- 28 nights at anchor
- 6 nights docked
- 85 boat movements
- 259 hours underway
- 1,866 nautical miles traveled
- 11 onboard guests
Decommissioning is a big job. We emptied the boat of all food, clothing and linens. We cleaned her inside and out, leaving no bilge untouched. We filled the diesel tank and emptied the holding tanks. The Lyman-Morse yard takes over from there, servicing the engine and other equipment, and winterizing all the plumbing systems to avoid ice damage over the winter. They will then haul her out, cover her, and put her on stands (“on the hard”) for the winter.
On the way back, to Rochester, as we crossed the Massachusetts / New York line, we started to see more and more Buffalo Bills fans, in mass migration to Buffalo for a Thursday night game against the Miami Dolphins. How do we know they’re fans? Easy… bumper stickers, jerseys, hats, face paint, fingernail polish all in the blue and red colors of the team. Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore!
This will be the last post of the season. We really appreciate you coming along and your encouraging comments. We hope you’ve enjoyed the articles and images, and that you’ll join us next year for a new adventure. We haven’t decided on the plan yet but we promise more great scenery and experiences.
Please enjoy these final images to hold us over until next year
