In 2023, we sailed 1,800 nautical miles from Rochester, New York to Portland, Maine… the long way. In 2024, we sailed another 2,000 miles from Fort Lauderdale, Florida back to Camden, Maine. Each day was a new discovery. So this year, by virtue of staying regtional, it’s been a little more challenging to find new material each day for this blog. I appreciate you sticking with it, and promise some longer-distance adventures in future years.
Meanwhile, the summer is clearly nearing its end with crisp days and colder nights and boat traffic starting to thin out.
Our last guests of the season, Jim and Donna, who we met sailing in Sackets Harbor, New York five years ago, joined us for a few days. We sailed out to our favorite Seal Bay anchorage, allowing them soak in the scenery and explore by kayak.
We had a grilled fish dinner followed by a few rounds of Code Names in which the gentlemen celebrated a 4-0 victory over the ladies, making up for our dismal defeat the last time we got together.
We’ll head back to Camden today to enjoy the Windjammer Festival there, before heading out to another anchorage on Saturday.
