Dan’s son, Alex, flew down to join us for a few days. We sailed into Beaufort to pick him up. Getting into Beaufort is tricky, following a shallow and circuitous channel, sometimes so narrow that you could have a conversation with people standing on beaches on either side… yikes! To make matters worse, it was low tide when he was expected to arrive.
We anchored in the Beaufort Channel, just across from town and dinghied over to meet Alex, then sailed back out to Cape Lookout for more time at the beach. We’ll be back in Beaufort soon, so more about that town to come. But at first glance, it looks really pleasant.

Alex is awesome! Such a good dude.. enthusiastic, willing, open.. all the qualities you look for, and honestly crave, in a young person. Keep it open, Alex. We have a spot for you in North Carolina!
Tom, You made his day in so many ways. And we are all fans of yours and so grateful to have met!
That’s great, memories are so much better when there is family involved!
It was great to see Alex with you. What an adventure you are all having! And thanks for sharing it all.
Thanks, Kiran. Not exactly Carnival or Norwegian, but we like it!
