Day 2 – Sailing to Sackets

No wind, no wind, no wind… WIND! Finally some wind for a pleasant sail on the last leg from Fairhaven, NY to Sackets Harbor, NY.

We left Fairhaven, NY at 0700 and motored for 6 hours Northeast toward Sackets Harbor. Our escorts, Carl and Todd aboard Resurgence, continued to accompany us (to make sure we really got out of town). About an hour form Sackets Harbor, a nice 12 knot wind settled in for a lovely sail in to the marina.

Sackets Harbor is a quaint town that caters to boaters and was an important military base in the War of 1812. It’s also home port to our dear friends Jim and Donna. The six of us had a nice dinner at Tin Pan Galley, accompanied by live music, followed by Donna’s phenomenal rhubarb cake aboard Lo Dolce VII.
