How do you get sails and cushions of one boat from Rochester, New York where stored for the winter, to Portland, Maine, where the boat is up for sale. From there, how do you get the personal gear and dinghy from that boat to the new boat in Ft. Pierce, Florida? Easy!
On Thursday, March 21, Dan set out from Rochester in a Budget rental truck. It was the first day of Spring but that didn’t stop a blizzard blowing through. Alex flew up from New York City to help with loading and unloading. The snow storm continued, taking power out of a good chunk of southern Maine, but we got it done and had a fun weekend in the process.
On Sunday, we drove the truck to New York to drop off Alex, and Dan continued to Richmond, Virginia. Fortunately, he crossed the Baltimore Harbor the day before the bridge accident. The next day he continued on to Fort Pierce, where Fregata was waiting on the hard to be loaded.
Thanks to the helpful staff of the boatyard, the gear was lifted onto the boat with a forklift truck. She was launched on March 27.
