The first leg of the trip north covered 165 nautical miles up the Atlantic coast of Florida from Ft. Pierce to St. Augustine.
Todd and Carl joined Dan for this trip. Without much wind, we motored during the first leg to Cape Canaveral. The next evening, we set sail for an overnighter to cover the remaining 100 nautical miles. As we left Cape Canaveral, one of the many SpaceX rockets full of Starlink sattelites was launched, giving us front row seats, including watching the booster returning to base. See the video below.
The trip was uneventful, other than fighting with 5 knots of current in the marina. After several usuccessful attempts to back the boat into a slip with the current pushing abeam, we held at the fuel dock until slack tide, making the maneuver much easier.
Todd and Carl were great crew and we had a fun couple of days on land and on the water, including an afternoon at Cocoa Beach.
